![]() ![]() Jingando Ltd was formed by Kate Nowakowski and Teresa Keohane, who met in Brazil in 2006. Recognising the great potential of Brazil as a country with an exciting economic outlook and hugely rich in terms of skills, resources and cultural heritage, we were also keenly aware of the hardships faced by those living at the bottom of Brazils society and the challenges in protecting the countrys unique environment during a period of rapid economic development. Our response was to establish a company that leveraged the richness of Brazilian culture and the immense worldwide appeal of Brasiliana through its product offering, managing this international business venture with a clear focus on authenticity and integrity, creating tangible positive benefits at all stages in the process and ensuring that a portion of the profits feeds back in to supporting one of the groups most at risk in Brazil, young people living in poverty. From the very beginning the venture was premised on the fact that products would be manufactured in a non sweatshop environment, and also that a part of the profits from the business would be allocated to help support the Julio Otoni Project , a social project in Rio de Janeiro with which both directors had personal involvement and had recognised a real need for funding to allow the continuation of extremely valuable youth support services.
