Got a question about Jingas?
If you have questions, perhaps the following will help (click on the question for more information):
Where are Jingas made?
The little brazilian flag on our Jingas is no gimmick. These shoes are the real brazilian deal. They are made on a small scale in central Brazil and we’re happy to say that Jingas are made in a place where people like to work. And just to check, we’ve personally been there.
Jingas are made of the following materials:
Upper: Synthetic (Korina and Nylon) Inner: EVA Sole: Recycled PVC Glue: Synthetic
Jingas are certified by the Vegan society.

What can I use them for?
Jingas are incredibly light, flexible and comfortable (normally, when people try them on a look of bliss and amazement passes across their face. “It feels like wearing slippers!” they say). So, apart from being perfect for capoeira and martial arts, they are also great for dancing (see below), walking the dog, cooking with friends, watching TV and a thousand and one other things. We don’t however recommend you use them for football or running.

Can I use them for dancing?
Jingas are ideal of many forms of dance including streetdance, salsa, jive, jazz, modern, and many others besides. You don’t just have to take this from us – hear what some of our customers have to say about them…
Steve, Director of Salsa Sensation said about them “I definitely more than enjoy dancing in my Jingas, not only salsa but I also dance RnB, Hip Hop, Street Locking, Popping…the list goes on. Out of my MANY shoes for dance these are now my favourite”.
Noel, (salsa instructor and performer), said “I like the way they stand out and the way they get me noticed in the street. I think that they are very practical shoes as one can wear them to / from the venue as well as stay in them for dancing. Plus, the colour scheme makes them stand out on your feet when you are doing your stuff on the floor.”
Dawn, a keen salsera, said “The Jingas are really comfortable, light and airy and I receive lots of comments about how nice they look!”
So, they look fantastic, they’re good for dancing, you can wear them indoors and out….now you just need to hot-foot it to the nearest dance floor with your Jingas!

Are they just for summer?
No, you can use them all year round. In fact due to the obliging and adaptable nature of Jingas, they are just as good for wearing without socks when it’s warm (with the added bonus that they’re easy to wash) and with socks for keeping your feet nice and toasty when it gets a bit chilly (as it often does around here). Unfortunately they are not so good for wearing in the rain as they are not waterproof so please be nice to them and wear your welly boots on rainy days.

Can I wash them?
Oh yes you can! Jingas are machine washable – our expert advice is to slip out the inner sole and pop them and the shoes in the machine at 30 degrees. Don’t wash them any hotter as this is not good for Jingas OR the environment. Did you know that washing your clothes at 40 degrees means you will often release more CO2 in the washing of them than in the making?

Will they last long?
Jingas are not a heavy duty shoe style, and as such are not built to last day in day out for years. However, for such a lightweight style, we feel that they last very well, and in the two years we have been running, our customers have not disagreed.

What sizes do they come in?
Jingas come in all sizes. Childrens Sizes go from a size euro 18 (UK size 2) which fits a nine month old up to a euro size 35 (UK Size 1), and adults sizes run from a Euro Size 36 (UK Size 2) up to a size 47 (fits a UK Size 12).
<Return to Top>
How does the sizing work?
Jinga Adults sizes are 35 (UK size 2) to 47 (UK size 12). Jingas fit as per european sizing. There is Jinga Size Conversion Chart on the site converting between UK, US and European sizes if you need some help!
Why should I buy your shoes and not another brand?
Well, apart from the fact they are look fantastic, feel dreamy on your feet and come in so many colours, Jingando Ltd (we, the makers of Jinga Shoes) is a social enterprise. This means that our company profits go to providing opportunities for socially excluyded young people – we provide 25% funding a social project in one of Rio ’s poorest shanty towns, so now what you wear really can make you feel good about yourself.
<Return to Top>
How do you make sure the social project you support uses the money effectively?
We don’t just support the project financially, when in Brazil we donate a fair portion of hard graft as well! As such, we have a strong relationship with the NGO managing the project (www.redeh.org.br) and receive regular updates as to the progress of the program.
