As of our collection for Spring / Summer 2011, we know the origin of ALL components and materials used in the making of Jinga and can confirm that they are 100% Made in Brazil. The main fabrics for the Upper and lining, (the PU and Polyester), are sourced from companies with stated socio-environmental policies.
Healthy Working Conditions
We are extremely proud to be retailing products made in a factory whose approach to worker conditions goes above and beyond the Jinga Code of Good Practice, a guideline we have based on internationally recognized fair working guidelines as the minimum requirement for all suppliers.
All employees at our facility are fully employed under Brazilian employment law. This is extremely important; it is estimated that as many as 25% of Brazils working population are not officially employed. Brazils employment legislation offers employees significant benefits including guaranteed minimum wage, the right to an 8 hour maximum working day, paid maternity leave, a national insurance equivalent payment, a 13th month of salary pay at the end of the year and 20 days holiday paid at 133% normal rate. Significantly, it also affords employees good protection if the employer violates workers legal rights. However, it is also a significant achievement that there are several benefits that workers at Jingas main production facility receive over and above those stipulated by law. These include:
